Race 4: Pandapas

Race 3 on Jacobs Ladder was not cancelled, in case you were wondering. But there were only 3 of us. We decided to ride down Old Farm instead just for fun. Snow riding is awesome!

Race 4 will be at Pandapas again, this time on a "hairy" trail :). Have fun, and be safe! Meeting point is at the the fire circle on top of the mountain. First rider down around 5PM, Sunday March 24. The plan is to ride regardless of weather unless conditions are really horrible.

Race 3: Jacob's Ladder

Race 2 on Spec Mine Trail did not go as planned. The powers that be decided to close the parkway down for fog and blocked access to the trail. Word didn't get out until right before the race, which caused some confusion. Sorry about that! Spec Mine will not be rescheduled in this series, but I hope you all have a chance to ride there soon. It's a great trail with some other fun trails nearby.

Race 3 will be down Jacob's Ladder at Pandapas! Meeting point is at the the fire circle on top of the mountain. First rider down around 5PM, Sunday March 24.

Race 2: Spec Mine Trail

Our next race will be at Spec Mine Trail, off the Blue Ridge Parkway. I don't have turn-by-turn directions or gps coordinates, but the general way to get there is hop on the Parkway from 460, and drive until you see the Montvale Overlook parking at milepost 96 (should be about 9 miles after leaving 460). The trail starts 50 yards south of the parking on the opposite side of the road. I don't know how busy that area will be on a Sunday evening. Let's remember to be considerate of other trail users while parking and racing.

First riders down Sunday Mar 17 around 5PM

Unfortunately, the weather forecast is predicting rain. Please check back here Sunday morning for an update. The race is still on as of now, but may be cancelled if trail conditions are bad enough.

Update: The race will happen, rain or shine! Have fun!
Cheers,
BRG

Race 1: Gaunlet

Our first race is coming up next weekend! Be stoked! We will be riding Gauntlet top to bottom, first rider down around 5PM, Sunday March 10. Please remember that all visitors to the park are expected to purchase a pass from the dropbox.

Directions to the Timberview parking if anyone needs them: Directions from I81 S  I recommend riding up Trough (unless you want to scout racing lines of course) and allowing about an hour for the climb up.

Sorry about the last-minute switch from Deer Trail to Gauntlet. Unfortunately, the car access road to Deer Trail has a gate which is currently closed. It is supposed to open by April, so we will plan to ride Deer Trail on April 7th. If the gate is still closed that weekend, we will choose another trail at N. Mtn. with easier access. Stay tuned for that.

Please spread word about the change so nobody misses out!

See you all soon!

Cheers,
BRG
