Race 3: Deer Trail

Hey folks,

I heard back from a few people, and it looks like 3PM on Sunday is a good time. Let's meet at the bottom of Deer Trail around 3PM and hike up together. If there's interest, I'm game to do some more riding after the race :)

Cheers,

Schedule change - Race 3 postponed

Hey folks

I found out today that Montgomery county is hosting a skills clinic on Friday afternoon.  Sean Castle, Brad Buchanan, and Fred Phillips are leading it. I've decided to change the d-cup schedule so they are able to make this weekend's race, and also so I'm able to help out with the clinic.

Race #3 at Deer Trail will be postponed until Sunday, probably sometime early afternoon. I want to check with everyone's schedule before setting a time. . Please send me an email  (miniwisejosh@gmail.com) if you can come race on Sunday and there's a time that works really well or not at all. I'll post confirmation about what time we will meet by Thursday.

Sorry about the last minute change in schedule. I hope it doesn't mess up anyone weekend plans. The remaining d-cup races are still scheduled on Friday afternoons.

Cheers,
BRG

Race 3: Deer Trail

Hey racers,

Race 3 will be at Deer Trail. I've really been looking forward to this one! If you like going downhill fast and haven't ridden Deer Trail yet, this is a perfect opportunity to check out one of the most fun trails in the area. We will meet at the top and begin racing around 6PM.

Directions:
Drive on 311 towards New Castle. About 2 miles after Dragon's Tooth, you will see a dirt road to the right. This is Wildlife Road. Continue on Wildlife Road for about 2 miles until you see a small parking area on the left marked with several boulders. The trail heads up the mountain to the right. It's 1.5 miles long with a 1000 ft elevation change. Plan on about an hour to hike up if  you want to go at a relaxed pace and save energy for racing. :)

Cheers,
BRG

Race 2: Prickly Pear/Skullcap/Queen Anne

Race 2 will begin at the highest point of Prickly Pear, and run down to the dirt road via Skullcap and Queen Anne. We'll meet at the start line around 6PM and begin racing soon after that. I think the quickest way up is to start at the top of Royale and ride up Prickly Pear from there. That should only take a few minutes.

Looking a few weeks ahead, I am reconsidering the 2-run race down Trough on Oct 19. I don't think there will be enough daylight, unfortunately. I'll confirm about a week before that race, but for now plan on just one run down Trough.

Cheers,
BRG

Race 1 announcement

Hey Folks!

Race #1 is coming up next Friday (Sept 14)! It will be a 2 stage super-d (like a mini enduro) at Carvins Cove, featuring Hemlock and Upper Comet. The start line is at the top of Hemlock. We'll meet there at 5:00 PM and begin racing soon after that. I think pedalling up the fire road from the parking lot is the fastest way, and that should take about 45 minutes.

The first stage will cover the downhill portion of Hemlock. We'll hang out there until everyone finishes that part, then pedal to the top of Comet for stage 2 which will cover the downhill portion of Comet. If the first stage ends up taking longer than I'm expecting, we may end up racing tuck a way for the 2nd stage instead of Comet to finish before dark. Hopefully we'll be able to stick to the original plan of Hemlock + Comet, but plan B is still a good race!

See you soon!
